Dr. Eltzroth was born and raised in Ohio. After high school, he attended Ambassador University in Texas, from which he received his Associate of Arts degree. Next, he was accepted to Purdue University in Indiana, where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree. Dr. Eltzroth returned to Ohio to attend dental school at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. During his senior year, he was selected as a Hinman Scholar at the Hinman Dental Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, one of the largest dental meetings in the United States. After graduating from OSU dental school, Dr.
Eltzroth elected to go into a rigorous, one-year advanced education in general dentistry residency program with the US Air Force.

Once this residency program was completed, the Air Force selected Dr. Eltzroth to be one of the few dentists to open and then work in a new dental clinic at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. While waiting for the new clinic to open, Dr. Eltzroth was stationed at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. Following his service with the Air Force at the Pentagon, he then transferred into the U.S. Public Health service and was sent to Carson City, Nevada. In Nevada, Dr. Eltzroth worked as the sole dentist at a clinic on the Washoe Indian reservation. He was involved with setting up a new medical/dental clinic for the tribe.

Working for the Public Health Service, Dr. Eltzroth was selected to go to New York City, New York during the World Trade Center disaster and volunteered 12 hours a night for two weeks assisting in the identification of victims. Dr. Eltzroth was personally recognized by the U.S. Surgeon General and selected to be one of 16 dentists nationwide on a national dental professional advisory committee. Upon completing his time with the Public Health Service, he moved to Chico, California. While looking for a practice, Dr. Eltzroth worked for the Del Norte clinics in Chico and Orland, California, where he provided much-needed care during his stay. In January, 2004, Dr. Eltzroth bought out an existing practice in Chico. Since then he has continued his commitment to continued training and education. From the time he graduated, he has taken over 500 hours of continuing education courses. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, and several other organizations.

Dr. Eltzroth builds his practice on four fundamental ideas:

  1. Compassion
  2. Dr. Eltzroth believes that compassion is critical in healthcare. Too often people become just numbers or bodies. Dr. Eltzroth wants to make sure that everyone is treated as an individual.
  3. Ability
  4. Dr. Eltzroth possesses natural talent and ability. Without a certain amount of natural skill, all the training in the world cannot make an excellent dentist.
  5. Education
  6. Dr. Eltzroth believes in life-long learning. He strives to keep his practice current with the latest studies and techniques. Dentistry is a constantly changing and developing science. Many concepts that were accepted years ago are no longer encouraged. By taking courses, reading journals, and networking with leaders in the dental field, Dr. Eltzroth ensures that his patients are receiving the best care possible.
  7. Technology
  8. As mentioned above, dentistry is evolving. Lasers with FDA approval for removal of cavities have been out for many years, but they are just now beginning to be accepted by the dental profession. Dr. Eltzroth was the first in Chico to own one of these dental lasers and soon other area dentists will follow suit. Dr. Eltzroth, however, never used a new "gadget" without first doing research on the product and ensuring that it was not just a gimmick.

With the proper combination of compassion, ability, education, and technology, Dr. Eltzroth is establishing himself as a leader in the dental profession and providing his patients with an outstanding level of care.
